CASA GATOS has a very convenient location, in North Akumal, between Playa del Carmen and Tulum, close to a number of beaches, water parks and archeological sites.
AKUMAL has been designated a Marine Life Refuge by the Mexican Government covering an area of 988 hectares (2441acres), where no commercial fishing is permitted, and sport fishing is severely limited.

CASA GATOS is conveniently located in the heart of the residential neighborhood of North Akumal between Yalku Lagoon and Half Moon Bay. The gated entrance opens onto a quiet lane alongside a small woodland park that buffers it from the hustle and bustle of the condo zone on the beach road. Visitors often remark that there is nothing like this neighborhood in Tulum or Playa del Carmen.

Suite 103 is the two-bedroom apartment of 1150 square feet (107 s. m.) with large, comfortably furnished rooms, decorated with an eclectic selection of art. All rooms are air-conditioned and have ceiling fans. WiFi can be accessed throughout the apartment.

The kitchen is fitted with a reverse- osmosis, UV filtration system yielding totally drinkable water. There is everything needed for preparing meals: gas oven, electric convection oven, microwave, electric grill, toaster, blender, cookware, utensils and dinnerware. The Dining Area seats five, has a vintage leaded glass window from a nineteenth century pub, and a view of the courtyard and garden.

The bedrooms, bathroom and kitchen are connected through the central hall that also has an interior stairway to the roof garden with a palapa (thatched roof) gazebo.

The principal bedroom, decorated with Chinese woodblock and silk screen prints, has a king bed and a futon in the sitting area. A separate door gives it independent access to the bathroom.

The front bedroom decorated with Japanese woodblock prints opens through French Doors onto a balcony looking out over the front garden. It has access to the bathroom through the central hall.


The one-bedroom apartment, Suite 100, comfortable and bright, is lit by numerous windows that admit the light of the morning sun and breezes off the sea. It easily accommodates two or three guests with a king bed in the bedroom and a single day bed in the front room. Animal and African-themed art and artifacts decorate the walls. The front room also includes a fully equipped kitchen fitted with a reverse osmosis-UV filtration system providing purified drinking water, a breakfast counter and separate dining area. You can relax on the balcony, shaded by a palapa (thatch roof) and a chicozapote tree (the source of chewing gum), while enjoying the view of the beautiful garden and the fountain. Both rooms have air conditioners and ceiling fans. The apartment has high-speed WiFi and a Smart HDTV with a fire stick.

It has 12 solar panels that make the electric bill very low.
